“Greece on a Dish” by Aldemar Resorts @ World Travel Market

Hungry WTM delegates looking for a tasty lunchtime snack at WTM should head to the Greek National Tourist Office stand EM 1270 / EM 1200, where a daily menu is being prepared by Aldemar Resorts’ (www.aldemar-resorts.gr) culinary team chefs led by operations executive chef, Evangelos Agalou, and offered to buyers and journalists visiting the lounge of the Greek section at the exhibition. This is the third consecutive year that Aldemar Hotels have worked in conjunction with the Greek National Tourist Office, to boost the profile of Greek cuisine. This is part of the “Greece at international tourism exhibitions on a Dish” initiative from Aldemar Resorts that aims to highlight Greek cuisine, both in Greece and abroad, and for the season 2014-15, it kicked off in October in France at the SIAL Paris, a leading exhibition of food and beverages and will travel to ITB, Berlin in Spring 2015. AldemarResorts Vice-President, Alexandros Angelopoulos highlights: “We love our food and we love sharing our food, this is both a Greek trait and one that at Aldemar Resorts has embraced since its inception. After all travellers find that food is not just a means to refuel when abroad but something that they will remember long after their holiday has finished. They may even try and replicate the fantastic time they had by cooking one or two dishes when they get back home and adding their own twist too. With this in mind we have been consciously promoting our food offering in all our hotels ensuring quality and authenticity. At the same time when there are overseas exhibitions we love to extend the food offering to visitors so that they too can indulge in a few moments of heavenly escape, during what are very busy networking days. Working with GNTO UK at World Travel Market has been a delight and we are looking forward to doing so for our third consecutive year, bringing “Greece on a dish” to London’s Excel with our culinary team of chefs. Aldemar Resorts and it’s teamactively get involved in promoting Greece, its products and culinary culture. The World Travel Market 2014 daily cooking show and lunchtime dishes will include:

  •  Greek pie with leek, antives, and cheese
  • Breadsticks (as per above) with Kalamata Paste and Greek cheese bites from the Peloponnese.
  • Cretan Mini Dakos with salad/tomato from Crete
  • Small sweet bites with pastiche from the Aegean / North Aegean
  • Greek Yoghurt with Greek sour cherry (MAKEΔΟΝΙΚΟΣ) from Northern Greece

Plus three dishes per day from the following recipes:

  •  Shrimp croquette from the Dodecanese Islands
  • Smoked quail on mashed beans from Epirus
  • Eggplant from Kythnos from the Cyclades
  • Skewered Snails on fava with caramelised onions from Crete
  • Stuffed vine leaves from Attica
  • Salad with wheat, dried fruits, berries, grapes, pomegranate and stick with roasted pork meat from Mani/Peloponnese
  • Smoked eel with eggplant and red Florina pepper cream from Florina / Northern Greece
  • Greek yoghurt with red wine sauce, balsamic vinegar, dried fruits (dates, apricots, raisins), sesame seeds, walnuts, tahini and honey from Thessaly & Sporades Islands.
  • Octopus salad, with peppers, caramelised onion, herbs and honey vinaigrette from the Ionian islands
