Aldemar Resorts Group in cooperation with the Department of Education and the Volunteer Office of the Municipality of Pyrgos organized, on 26 and 27 May 2022, a two-day workshop on the protection of the Environment, addressed to all Primary Schools of the Municipality of Pyrgos and the villages of the wider region, in the context of the World Environment Day, which is celebrated every year on June 5th.
The aim of the initiative was to protect the environment, promote the Sustainable Development Goals, and raise awareness of the sea, its ecosystem and its coastline.
Within the framework of the two-day workshop, hosted at the Aldemar Olympian Village Hotel, a series of educational seminars were held for over 200 students of all primary school classes and interactive games on the beach of Skafidia under the scientific guidance of the Scientific and Humanitarian Association of Greek Teachers – Greekteachers.
The students had the opportunity to get close to the marine and coastal environment, resulting in an understanding of the challenges that the sea and nature in general face from human activity, but also the need to protect them to ensure a healthy and prosperous future. Raising awareness for beaches and coastlines free of waste, litter and plastics was the highlight of the seminar.
This initiative was part of the Aldemar Resorts Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme and the Aldemar Academy initiative, whose initiator is the Group’s CEO, Mr. Alexandros Angelopoulos. The aim of the initiative is to promote and integrate the concept of Sustainability to the new generation, which is the bright future for humanity, and the role that the hospitality industry has in the Greek society and economy.
